Canada (pronounced /ˈkænədə/) is a country occupying most of upper North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area and shares the world's longest common border with the United States to the south and northwest. The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of aboriginal people. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled along, the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accretion of additional provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom, highlighted by the Statute of Westminster in 1931 and culminating in the Canada Act in 1982, which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament. A federation comprising ten provinces and three territories, Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual and multicultural country, with both English and French as official languages both at the federal level and in the province of New Brunswick. Technologically advanced and industrialized, Canada maintains a diversified economy that is heavily reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G8, NATO, OECD, WTO, the Commonwealth of Nations, the Francophonie, the OAS, APEC, and the United Nations. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "canada" From Yahoo Image Search: "canada" What is Canada doing to protect Canadians against the H1N1 virus? Q. The Public Health Agency of Canada has listed this on its website (last modified April 26) "Vaccine A vaccine is any preparation intended to produce immunity to a disease by stimulating the production of antibodies. Canada has a plan for a vaccine to be produced domestically if a pandemic occurs, which will take about six months once the virus is identified. Enough pandemic vaccine will be produced to cover all Canadians." Now that the virus has been declared a pandemic, what action is the government taking? Asked by Denim - Tue Jun 16 20:21:34 2009 - - 1 Answers - 2 Comments A. Canada is not taking the pandemic seriously. Five students got the H1N1 at Coquitlam-area schools in BC. None of the schools were shut down. H1N1 is the same strain as the 1918 Spanish Flu. Look at the fatality rates of every know flu pandemic Asiatic (Russian) Flu 1889 90 1 million died, possibly H2N2 Spanish Flu 1918 20 to 40 million died, H1N1 Asian Flu 1957 58 1 to 1.5 million died, H2N2 Hong Kong Flu 1968 69 0.75 to 1 million died, H3N2 So we know at least one million people will die if there is a flu pandemic this fall and they don't want to close a school because of final exams? Per year, how many immigrants immigrate to canada? Is there any sort of law or canadian organization which can provide them safety or some kind of protection? Or is there even a United Nations organization which Canada has entered to support fair and ethical labor in multinational corporations?? No need to question Canadian government for immigrant protection and rights; Canada has an official multi-cultural policy; they even have a crime of hatred, right? No, the racism you see in its neighbour, you don't normally see it there. Canada is very good to legal immigrants. Q. I am looking for a place or organization in Canada that accepts pop tops (pull tabs) from aluminum cans, such as pop or beer. I have been saving them for a while and wanted somewhere to donate, by either mail or dropping them off. I reside near Hamilton, so are there any local organizations i can do this? and or any where in canada i could mail them? thanks!! Asked by darkarcher_7 - Mon Feb 4 14:15:26 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. You could try checking with a local service club, such as the Lions, Rotary, etc. Some of them collect the tabs to sell as scrap aluminum (the Lions throughout Alberta do, but I'm not sure about the rest of the country.)
